….a poem from Cashel: Tales of the Emigres
Religious law‘s preached from holy tables,
By imam, priest, as custom does provide;
But what‘s God’s; and what‘s from Aesop’s fables;
An educated conscience should decide.
Self-serving judges of God’s fine judgement
Can’t limit human love; nor speak for God.
Their vanity gives Omnipotence amusement;
They neither rule His head nor hold His rod.
Believing what you will – embrace belief.
Take mythology for historic truth;
Artistically carve it in bass-relief;
Believe it without scientific proof.
Blind faith can’t guarantee eternity;
Blind ignorance endures eternally.
