Dr. Ralph Hexter

Dear Dr. Hexter,

Thank you for attending Sacramento Opera’s recent production of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. We know there is stiff competition for your entertainment dollars these days, so we are especially honored you chose to attend the opera.

If you attended the Sunday rnalinee and didn’t receive a program booklet, piease accept our apologies. In an effort to not waste precious resources, we printed only what we needed based on sales one week prior to opening, plus a small overrun to accommodate last minute purchasers. Walk-up business far exceeded our projections. We will do better for our next production of Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and “Puccini: The Man and His Muses” on February 22 and 24, 2013 to ensure you receive a program booklet.

We are engaged in an ongoing effort to improve our programs and services. If there are ways wherein your opera attending experience in Sacramento might be improved, your constructive comments are most appreciated.

John Murphy, a Tudor Historian & Writer from London who attended the Friday performance of Barber, wrote in his blog-

.. .like the audience I greatly enjoyed my evening. If opera is to survive as live art and not be squeezed aside by the growing attraction of the Met and other international houses showing their season in cinema theatres then it is vital that smaller companies thrive and are supported by a wider audience.

Join with us in building Northern California’s premiere opera company outside the Bay area. Ticket sales provide 49% of our budget needs, while contributions  provide the remainder. As you consider your end of year contributions, please consider a gift to the Sacramento Opera.  Enclosed is a Partner-in-Performance return envelope for your convenience. Help keep opera alive and well in the Sacramento Region.

Sincerely

General Director
