Ian Loveless
We hosted a birthday party for my dear friend Ian whom I’ve known since the late 1970s and who despite my worse behaviour has managed to remain among the best of my friends. I’m very lucky.
We’ve been through much together. My life has been much enriched for sharing its sorrows and its many joys with Ian. We both love Opera – though I have the good taste to still dislike Wagner – and we also love the occasional sharp observation at the other’s expense. Indeed only with a friend can you truly share the humour of well observed malice.
This was one of the floral arrangments we put up which I thought I’d share with you.
The menu included:
Jellied beetroot soup with horseradish cream Smoked salmon, trout and mackerel Roast Crown of lamb with veal and pork stuffing; roast rosemary potatoes; and, broads been, broccoli & runner English & Irish cheese (including Cashel blue) and fresh fruit Mirabelle ice-cream Blackberry soufflé with blackberry sauce. The soufflé rose magnificently to the occasion despite having to do a bit of last minute improvisation. There’s little that cannot be made good with egg whites and a decent roux. The blackberries were truly great. We’d recently picked the blackberries along the Grand Union canal.
Ian has kindly agreed to donate some pictures to the galleries of the Web Page and they will be on the site shortly for your enjoyment.
